| Raising Funds
for School Assemblies
Parent-teacher organizations are a vital source
of funds for many school activities, including assemblies.
They provide valuable help in keeping the arts alive in
schools.
In addition to school fundraisers, there
are specific funds and grants available in most schools
and communities that can be used to sponsor programs. Theatre
of All Possibilities performances are curriculum based in
social studies, history, literature and language arts. Our
programs also promote self-esteem and multi-cultural awareness.
This means that many types of funding sources can be used
for our assemblies. Schools have used Title One, School
Improvement Program, Student Body, Multi-cultural and district
funds. Some counties have Arts Councils that provide matching
grants or gifts for schools. Our company is listed with
a number of Arts Councils. If we're not listed with
your Arts Council, please let us know – we'll
be happy to apply.
What about grants? There is a lot of great
support to be found on the internet. Websites like grantsalert.com
offer lists of grants that are fairly easy to apply for
under their "Good Stuff for Teachers" link. Target
store grants are listed here, and schools have been awarded
grants for Theatre of All Possibilities programs. Most grants
from Target range from $1,000.00 to $3,000.00. Go to target.com
and search under grants.
At grantsalert.com you can link to efundraising.com
which has a good outline for organizing fundraising campaigns.
They also have various fundraising kits available. You can
find many of these types of companies on the internet that
set schools up for fundraisers.
We hear from a number of people that they
thought their school didn't have assemblies because
there were no funds available. They are pleasantly surprised
to find out that there are indeed funds, but no one has
taken on the simple task of scheduling programs. So don't
forget to ask - there may be resources already there, just
waiting for someone to put them to good use.
